French robotics shines at CES 2023 and accelerates the electrification of vehicles
AKEOPLUS shines at the CES 2023 (Consumer Electronics Show) in Las Vegas, unveiling a robot capable of fully autonomous electric and hybrid vehicle charging. AKEOPLUS, a Rhône-Alpine start-up specializing in robotics, worked alongside its shareholder EFI Automotive to develop the robot’s intelligence, enabling it to perform its tasks and missions. The robot provides peace of mind, slipping under vehicles and automatically recharging them without the need to plug in.
AKEOPLUS has put its robotics expertise to use in the field of electric vehicle adoption. Building on its successful robotics projects in the aeronautics, space, and pharmaceutical sectors, the company decided to work with members of the EFI Group, particularly the industrial accelerator Axandus, to develop the robot. This bet paid off: after several months of collaboration, the charging robot was unveiled at the CES in Las Vegas from January 5 to 8.
For this occasion, Carlos Tavares for the Stellantis group unveiled the robot on its stand (number 4740). The autonomous mobile robot (AMR) autonomously positions itself under a vehicle, in this case a RAM brand vehicle, to perform an induction charge. It becomes a new extension of charging stations. It unrolls and rolls up a cable as it advances, allowing it to charge several vehicles sequentially at 7 kW. The robot ensures that every vehicle in the family or business will be charged the next day, with a high level of safety (object/obstacle bypass, automatic stop).
According to Frédéric LASSARA, top management at EFI and managing director of AKEOPLUS: “This Comfort Charging robot embodies the DNA of AKEOPLUS, which is to provide intelligence to robotic objects in constrained environments (ESD, clean room, white room, nuclear, etc.) and solutions for orchestrating complex robotic modules. We are in the process of recruiting about 15 engineers to consolidate our expertise in 2023.”
The AKEOPLUS team is at the CES 2023 from January 5 to 8 with EfFIAutomotive and Axandus on stand 5400, showcasing the robot in the Stellantis space, particularly in the RAM brand area.
